President

The President of the Yale College Council is charged with developing a vision for YCC and leading its operations. As president of the student body, they serve as the primary liaison between students and Yale's administration. The President is the manager of the Executive Board and meets on a regular basis with the University President, Dean of Yale College, and other University officials.

Vice President

The Vice President is responsible for recruitment, elections, project assignment to representatives, and committee and team oversight. The Vice President also leads the Management Board, the Council of Representatives, and meets with key University officials. Along with the President, the VP meets regularly with University officials. Additionally, they serve as the liaison between the YCC and University Standing Committees as well as the primary manager of the Policy Branch.

Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff manages administrative operations behind the scenes by handling overall logistics of the YCC, supporting policy directors and their management of projects, planning social events to improve the cohesion of the organization. The Chief of Staff’s duties include meeting with policy directors, managing Affinity Network teams, and organizing the underlying layers connecting the organization as a whole.

Chief Financial Officer and Business Team

The YCC Chief Financial Officer is responsible for budget allocation, securing funds, fundraising efforts, forming partnerships to provide student discounts, and seeking sponsorships. The Chief Financial Officer also manages the Chief Financial Officer and chairs the Council of Representatives' Special Funding Committee.

Communications Directors & Communications Team

The YCC Communications Director is responsible for public relations, press relations, communication within the council (notes, distributing agendas, minutes, coordinating meeting locations), external communications (emails, newsletters, publishing reports), website development, and social media outreach. The Communications Director also manages the Communications Team, which consists of copy writers, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and video editors.

UOFC Director and UOFC Team

The UOFC Director chairs the Undergraduate Organizations Funding Committee (UOFC) and manages the Funding Committee, its budget, and its Finance Managers. Responsibilities include allocating funds for student organizations. The Committee provides annual funding and support for special events.

Academic Policy Director

The Academic Policy Director is the coordinator of all Senate projects related to academics, career resources, and alumni engagement, and serves as a liaison to each academic department, the Yale Undergraduate Career Services, and the Center for International and Professional Experiences.

Cultural and Religious Policy Director

The Cultural and Religious Policy Director is the coordinator of all Senate projects related to cultural centers and affinity groups to promote inclusive policies.

Dining Policy Director

The Dining Policy Director is the coordinator of all Senate projects related to dining policies. The director works with Yale Hospitality and the Office of Student Affairs to ensure transparent and equitable dining policies.

Financial Policy Director

The Financial Policy Director is the coordinator of all Senate projects involving financial aid reform, student jobs, stipends, and support for First-Generation, Low-Income (FGLI) and other marginalized students.

Health and Accessibility Policy Director

The Health and Accessibility Policy Director is the coordinator of all Senate projects that empower various communities in terms of mental, sexual, and physical health, accessibility services, and public safety.

Sustainability Policy Director

The Sustainability Policy Director is the coordinator of all YCC projects related to sustainability at Yale and New Haven.

New Haven Engagement Chair

The New Haven Engagement Chair serves as the connection between the YCC and the greater New Haven community.

Student Engagement Co-Chairs

with student organization representatives to understand their needs and communicate this to the Executive Board and Senate.

Events Director

The Events Director oversees all Yale College Council events and programming. The Events Director is responsible for the Events Branch of the Yale College Council, which includes the the Events Committee, the First Year Class Council, the Junior Class Council, the Sophomore Class Council, and the Spring Fling Committee. The Events Director regularly meets with University officials to carry out the event and programming goals of the YCC and to form new partnerships between the YCC and different communities of the University.

Events Committee

The Events Committee is responsible for planning and producing YCC events throughout the year including, but not limited to, speaker events, Final Cut, Battle of the Bands, and the annual Yale-Harvard game party/tailgate. The committee, led by the Events Director, consists of both elected Council representatives and non-elected associate members who apply to the serve on the committee. Within the Committee, there exist subcommittees that manage the production of large scale events.

Spring Fling Committee

The Spring Fling Committee is charged with planning and executing Spring Fling, Yale’s annual music festival held after the end of classes in April. Spring Fling is one of Connecticut’s largest music events, bringing together the entire campus to celebrate the end of the year. The committee conducts industry research on potential talent and creates a shortlist of recommendations, compiles and analyzes survey results, and plans the production. Spring Fling Committee members are associate members of YCC. The committee is led by a chair appointed by the committee at large.

First-Year Class Council

Comprised of 28 first-year representatives (two from each residential college), the First-Year Class Council is the primary student government body representing the freshmen. The FCC is responsible for planning major events such as the First-Year Olympics, First-Year Barbecue, and the First-Year Dance.

Sophomore Class Council

The Sophomore Class Council (SoCo) is dedicated to improving the student life of sophomores. Responsibilities of the Council include the planning of class-wide events and working on pertinent issues (e.g. advising reform, career opportunities). The council is composed of a president, elected by the sophomore class each April, who chooses representatives in an application-based process.

Junior Class Council

The Junior Class Council (JCC) consists of a president, elected by the junior class each April, who accepts applications from interested juniors. The JCC’s responsibilities vary largely due to the diverse interests its members are charged to represent. Past initiatives have included the creation of an online database of internships across a number of different fields in conjunction with Undergraduate Career Services.
